The future of Ministry of Sound Club is under threat again! Mayor of London Boris Johnson plans to overturn last year’s decision to save our club and approve plans for property developers to build luxury flats opposite the club. Join the fight and help save our club by clicking here.

Please help in saving this incredible venue. It means so much to so many people and is a vault filled with many millions of good memories for clubbers and music fans alike.
When I was younger, I watched the legendary London Astoria and Hammersmith Palais be pulled down in favour of development and I breaks my heart to see it happen again.  The Astoria epitomised my youth and, whilst I have the fantastic memories of my time there, I hate that I can’t still enjoy it today.  I really hope Ministry of Sound doesn’t meet the same fate because it is a really special place and, as soppy as it sounds, it has contributed to the person I am today.  I have met tons of people there and, without Ministry, I probably wouldn’t have the current circle of friends that I enjoy spending time with now.
If you haven’t been I would highly recommend going there, sooner rather than later. Not sooner because of the threat from the develop of luxury apartments, but because the sooner it is in your life you will understand how special it is to me and so many other people across the world.

Last night myself and a friend went to see Steel Panther at a secret show in a 100-capacity pub called Old Blue Last in Shoreditch, London. It was probably the best show of my life. Got on stage with them and partied all night! What’s best is that in real life they are such lovely guys. Lexxi even personally handed me a pick from the stage (before we joined them)! SO happy I had to share a few photos from the night.

Hey all, just dropping by to let you know about a few things coming up on Rock The Week in the next few weeks!

March

I’ve got a couple of great interviews lined up with Forever The Sickest Kids and We Are The Ocean.

I met the boys from Forever The Sickest Kids last February and they were really lovely guys. Check out my interview with them last year @ http://www.phoenixfm.com/story/2521.php
Now they’re back with their new album/EP ‘The Weekend:Friday’ and before supporting You Me At Six on their headline tour throughout March, the FTSK boys are playing an intimate show at the Borderline in London.

We Are The Ocean are a 5 piece post-hardcore band hailing from London and Harlow (local lads!) who are about to begin a supporting slot for Underoath in March.  Their album ‘Cutting Our Teeth’ was released on the 1st Feb and is absolutely brilliant - one to check out this year for sure!

Also in March the show will be Alice in Wonderland mad with me playing two tracks from the film soundtrack ‘Almost Alice’.  The track listing is as follows:

1. Alice Performed by Avril Lavigne
2. The Poison Performed by The All-American Rejects
3. The Technicolor Phase Performed by Owl City
4. Her Name Is Alice Performed by Shinedown
5. Painting Flowers Performed by All Time Low
6. Where’s My Angel Performed by Metro Station
7. Strange Performed by Tokio Hotel and Kerli
8. Follow Me Down Performed by 3OH!3 featuring Neon Hitch
9. Very Good Advice Performed by Robert Smith
10. In Transit Performed by Mark Hoppus with Pete Wentz
11. Welcome to Mystery Performed by Plain White T’s
12. Tea Party Performed by Kerli
13. The Lobster Quadrille Performed by Franz Ferdinand
14. Always Running Out of Time Performed by Motion City Soundtrack
15. Fell Down a Hole Performed by Wolfmother
16. White Rabbit Performed by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Please ture into the show in the next month - some great stuff happening!
Listen @ www.phoenixfm.com every Saturday from 6pm GMT.

Until then,

Happy belated 2010 tum-blarrrrr.

So I haven’t checked in for a while, and for that, I’m sorry.

With January over and February in full swing, there is a lot to look forward to. I’m talking music-wise, Rock the Week-wise, social-wise and just general-wise.

Friday and Saturday night (5th and 6th Feb) I went to the Kerrang! Tour to see All Time Low, The Blackout, Young Guns, My Passion and Jet Black (only saw them once as they were playing as everyone filed in. From just getting into the door and hearing something live playing this K! Tour beat last year’s (there was a power surge at Brixton Academy before any of the bands had chance to play and the night had to be cancelled).  All in all, I had an absolutely fabulous time with loads of new friends and got to watch some awesome music.

On Monday evening I went to the Relentless Garage where This City, Young Guns and You Me At Six were playing. This City were really good, getting the crowd going and winning over more fans during each song.  Young Guns were as great as ever, pulling out all the stops during their 30 minute set.  You Me At Six blew the roof off of the place and seemed so comfortable in their career together.  Their new songs translated perfectly and they made everyone feel as much at the party as they did.

Thursday was Lostprophets turn to impress me and boy did they bring the noise.  Hexes were up first and they were pretty good, although the distortion drowned out the bands’ sound as it echoed around Brixton Academy.  Kids In Glass Houses were absolutely brilliant and watching them play with a new album awaiting release under their belts, they showed how far they’d come since their last album cycle.  Lostprophets completely tore the stage apart upon arrival and, despite not having their usual amount of stage banter, proved that no-one and nothing could bring these 6 down.  Playing songs from all four albums, they showed that, whilst they’re exploring new and exciting paths, they will never forget where it all started (is it coz they is Welsh?!)

All in all, a fabulous week. Let’s do it again sometime?

Tay xx
